White Spot Black Hat is a new shape to Wendy Scully Millinery for 2023.
This hat block was custom made for Wendy by Lorenzo Ree, the most famous of hat block makers who has been making custom hat blocks for Chanel, Dior and Phillip Tracey. Its a bit like a top hat but with the turn down brim.
The block shape was inspired by the 1950s and similar to a block on display at the new Dior Museum Gallery in Paris.
With the classic straight sided crown and a short brim with turned down edge this is the ultimate retro hat shape.
In this example it has been keep very simple, a white satin edge on the brim, not even a hat band.
The large white spot sinamay gives a sheer lightness to the finished hat.
Perfect for Derby Day. Wear ist with pizzaz!
Pair it with a vintage black and white dress, similar to our image which is a vintage Escada dress with white curved collar.
