Foss Shape- an introduction

Introduction to Foss Shape- blocking and and then fabric covering a small  hat block

This workshop is a longer workshop aimed at the intermediate or skilled beginner+  level craft student.

You may have an interest in millinery, or craft in general. You needy to have good basic hand sewing skills.

You will be able to use one of Wendy's small bibi or button blocks hat blocks, or bring your own **small wooden hat block.

You will be introduced to the use of Foss shape to block the small hat block. Then work to how to wire/ cover/ line the shape.  The aim of this workshop is to create a finished fabric covered and lined/flat base hat shape.

This workshop includes a piece of *Foss shape, bias, wire, fabric options, elastic or headband as needed to secure the finished shape,  threads, needles, and use of tools to complete the task. You also have the option of bringing your own small block shaped and fabric to cover the blocked shape.

Trimmings are at your choice, however various options and styles can be discussed and seen in store. Bring with you what you are thinking to use. Trimming would not be finished within this class time.

This is a 6 hour workshop, with a short break for lunch (at your own expense).

The workshop is held in Wendy Scully Millinery  Studio- Suite 208/227 Collins St, Melbourne CBD. It is air-conditioned and easily accessible. 

The examples pictured are some of the variations Wendy has created using this technique of foss shape. You maybe inspired to think about how you want to finish your millinery piece.
