Red is a popular colour for racewear, both for spring and autumn/winter. It’s a lively colour. Wearing red at the races is a popular fashion statement. There are so many shades and hues of reds that its sometimes hard to choose which shade you want to pick.

Red can symbolize excitement, energy, passion, action, love, safety and danger in Western cultures.

In many Asian cultures red is a very important colour — it denotes good luck, joy, prosperity, celebration, happiness, and a long life across on many countries. It is a main colour for Chinese New Year and an important dress colour for these events. It is also an auspicious colour that Chinese brides often wear on their wedding day. Red envelopes containing money are given out during holidays and special occasions, as it is seen as good luck for the receiver.

Red is also synonymous with passion. When love is in the air, so too is the colour red.

When it comes to matters of the heart, red is used to express gentle and heartfelt sentiments, for example on Valentine’s Day, fun at Christmas, and show stopping fashion outfits, and the colour of a warm coat and hat for an icy winter’s day.

Dark red is often associated with energy, willpower, rage, anger, leadership, courage, longing and evil.

Reddish brown is associated with harvest and autumn, and the rusty brownish colour highlights the colours of leaves falling in the wind in autumn. Maroon colour is dark brownish red which is why it is often referred to as wine colour- shiraz, claret, grenache. It denotes warmth and comfort yet also power and confidence and the sense of a delicious wine on a cool day.
