Wendy Makes her straw pillboxes and other hat shapes by a more detailed technique than most milliners.
Wendy creates a boss shape underlayer which creates the form of the hat block.
The beautiful straw is then also 'blocked' and positioned over the base foss shape.
The next step in the process is trimming and wiring the head edge of the shape being blocked.
After this the hat shape is lined and then the petersham ribbon and elastic is added.
Don't purchase a straw hat shape that is not double blocked. It will be out of shape in no time and won't last!!
