Wendy Scully Millinery has been awarded a grant from the City of Melbourne. As a City of Melbourne based retail shop, Wendy Scully Millinery was eligible to apply for a grant to help support their during the lockdown caused by Covid-19.
The grants provided businesses affected by the retail shutdowns to obtain equipment to help them create a better online retail presence.
In the case of Wendy Scully Millinery we were approved to purchase photographic equipment- including a new camera, with lens suitable for portrait work, studio lights and a large screen monitor for better editing. As well as part of the grant was a budget for training in using the new camera and lights, as well as some training in digital editing of images.
It has been a steep learning curve to learn lighting, camera setting etc. However we have held several photoshoots now, with our model/assistant Sophie and are pleased with the much improved photo quality. Especially in the case of lockdown restrictions, we are also lucky that Sophie lives in the same complex as us, so she can pop the path down to work on a photoshoot.
