“kirra 2” is a variation on the original headpiece called “Kirra”. Kirra means leaf in some Australian Aboriginal languages.
This piece is created on the ‘Alizia’ crown hatblock.
This stunning and distinctive headpiece crown is made with pure vintage silk that is hand coloured and dyed. Soft green golds and bronzes shimmer as the wear moves. The leaves flutter slightly on the breeze, as they would in nature. Small bronze gold balls create the gum nuts nestled within the leaves. An image and homage to the elegance of the Australian flora and the well known icon of Australia- the Eucalypt tree.
Each leaf is created from two types of silk- a dupion and a lace silk, bonded together with wire centres.
Each leaf can be moved and shaped.
The headpiece is reversible so you can create two slightly different looks from one headpiece.
It sits neatly on your head and has a headband fitted within the hat. Additional headbands can be added for a smaller head fit.
This is a unique hat. It is a one only piece.
Kirra Two could be worn as a statement piece in spring or winter racing events. It could also be used within a theatre setting.
