Description
Beige Linen Cloche Hat is a stunning and elegant piece. It is a unique headpiece that captures the mix between classical and modern. This cloche style hat was created on a vintage 1920s “Russian” hatblock, one of the collection of four Russian hat blocks that Wendy Scully Millinery uses to make her hat bases. Wendy calls this particular shape hat “Natasha”.
The process to make “Natasha” involves moulding and shaping the base material, in this case Esparterie. In this case the Esparterie used by Wendy is from a very limited supply from Japan.
The Esparterie is heat set and then wired after which the surface fabric is also moulded and then attached to the base pieces. The shapes are handstitched together to create this extremely flattering hat. A bow sits at the back of the hat.
The end result here is absolute simplicity and style. This beige colour hat will match to any colour outfit. An internal comb ensures perfect security. An elastic can be added for further security.
Beige Linen Cloche Hat is 100% Australian made by Wendy in her Melbourne studio.
This style hat, “Natasha”, can also be made in sinamay, vintage silk, hand felted fabrics and velvets. Each foundation material used as a base shape for this hat block possesses its unique and personal style. Sheer, luxurious, shimmering, textural, and vintage in style.
Trim is generally a larger bow, however flowers and beading are other option.
The option is also available to have this headpiece made with or without a crown in the hat. You would then have a “halo” ring hat. That would be perfect for someone who wants their hair in a bun or for their hair to cascade through a ring shape.
This unique headpiece is handmade and is available to custom order in many colours , trims and fabrics. Each fascinator and hat created is unique in colour and trim.
If you love the “Natasha” shape but would like it in another colour or fabric please contact Wendy directly on wendy@wendyscully.com or call her on +61416310028 to discuss customising your own unique “Natasha”. In the photo gallery is the ‘Blue Velvet Natasha” which was made in collaboration with @Anjilla Seddeqi. This blue velvet version doe not have a crown.
We do not accept returns of made to order pieces.
